All over the news today has been about Bob Woolmer who was found murdered on Sunday in his hotel room after his team’s shocking defeat to Ireland the Jamaican Police have confirmed.
Result of Death : asphyxia due to manual strangulation.
Blood and vomit were found at the scene along with a broken bone in Woolmer’s neck. Mr Shields (leading officer in the case) said that there was no sign of forced entry or struggle in his room and that Woolmer was a big man who would have taken significant force to subdue. He also said that since there was no sign of struggle, the killer was probably someone known to Woolmer. He was found half- naked in his room, partially wrapped in a towel.
Its hard to believe that Bob Woolmer would have any enemies within or out of the cricket world, he doesn’t seem the sort according to friends responses on BBC News.
I find it difficult that his team lost a major match in cricket then the day after he is found murdered. Today at University Neil suggested it was a member of the Pakistani Cricket team. Reason being Woolmer was going to report them to the cricket association for match fixing, remember this is the Pakistani team involved in the 2006 ball-tampering row, so anything is possible I suppose. They also lost to Ireland in cricket who are not a particularly good team which is quite peculiar.
He knew his killer so this theory could be true, so only time will see.
