Since that overplayed Marks & Sparks advert (yeah the one with the lovely Myleene Klass) I have been digging out my small faces songs looking to see if I had Itchycoo Park lying around somewhere. Unfortunately all I had was Lazy Sunday and a few others but no Itchycoo, this was not good, I had to see what the wonders of the Internet could do. Anyway I managed to get my hands on an album called The Autumn Stone which isn’t a bad album but on a whole isn’t really my cup of tea.
Now don’t get me wrong I have listened to this album about 3 times now and I just can’t grasp it. Honestly I don’t think its the album but the Small Faces generally I just can’t get into. See I like The Who therefore I should like the Small Faces (shouldn’t I) but I just don’t feel it. Although I do like a few songs, my absolute favourite being Afterglow (Of Your Love) which is just great fabulous
I can’t put into words how much I like that song at the minute. <soppy bit> I sort of like some songs because they remind me of people and that song is one them. </soppy bit>. Although I haven’t given up on the Small Face and plan on getting Ogden’s Nut Gone Flake some time in the near future. Another thing they killed the version of ‘If I were a carpenter’ which also appears on Autumn Stone, Buggars but I still have hope.
