Harry Potter and the Price Cut of ASDA Ban

The war still rages over the half blood prince, it seems after all the trouble ASDA has had its still going to put its two fingers up to Bloomsbury. If you don’t know the story ASDA had accused Bloomsbury of “blatant profiteering” in a press release and in an interview with BBC Radio Five Live. Bloomsbury then cancelled a delivery of 500,000 copies of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, but cited a row about “unsettled bills” as the reason. It was then currently advertising it for less than half of the recommended price - £8.87 - on its website, the same as arch-rival Tesco. In a Drastic U-turn today though ASDA has announced it will be selling the book for just £5, that’s 3.87 less than anybody else.

This new sale price means ASDA is heavily loosing money on each book sold which started me thinking. Unlike other (non supermarket) retailers I bet ASDA are hoping you buy this new book and maybe pick up a few things like groceries, selling the book at just £5 will encourage a lot of people to walk through their doors. It has also been great advertising campaign, its been covered by websites, tv, with local and national papers also having their courage.

SO has ASDA been very clever, Yes, will the book be a big seller, Yes, will Kyle every read the book, doubtful.
