I was wondering if anybody took any notice of Google’s pledge last week to shorten the life span of the cookies its leaves on users’ system to two years (formally expiring in 2038) and it will anonymise user logs after 18 months.
The above pledge does sound rather good but the part I believed everybody missed is the part about these initiatives being meaningless. The reason for this is that the cookies will be renewed anytime the user uses a Google Service : Gmail, Blogger, Youtube, Google Earth, Google Checkout, Orkut etc.
Who doesn’t use one of those services in 2 years ?
Pointless !
