Twitter A Photo

Does anybody think a ‘twitter like web application’ that allows users to post photographs directly from a mobile phone device or  *maybe* wifi enabled digital camera would be successful?

They do say;

A picture is worth a thousand words

I remember something along those lines from Blogger, which allowed me to upload images straight from my phone (software on the photo (not a 3rd party app btw)) to a blogger website. The only problem with this was that its missing the whole ’social thing’ Twitter engulfs.

This is something I could see working well on the iphone, users take photos and uploads them when they are in a wifi hotspot (or ques them until they enter one).

I can already see the Facebook application in full swing.

Apologies if this has been mentioned at a different location across the Internet, the idea just came to me today while I was out and about the town centre.

Update : I’ve done some searching and there’s nothing along those lines I’ve mentioned above, I’ve found a few sites like moblog uk and Splashblog which seem to cater towards the users creating blogs to show camera phone images. It’s seems to be missing the social side to things. Also the way in which the user needs to upload images seems terrible. For moblog uk you need to email your photos, in which the email address is like this mb-[yourusername]-[yourpassword]@moblg.net. For Slashblog you basically need a pocket pc or smart phone.

Update 2 : Flickr do have an application out there that does allow you to upload mobile photo images to your Flickr account but its seems to be hidden within their whole mobile suite which includes quite a lot of pointless material : see for yourself. I do think it’s half way there Flickr, it does seem more social that the rest of the other companies out there, but I still believe there is room in the market for somebody to do this idea right.
