I’ve just realised, I haven’t spoken on here for a while. Well I’ve been hard at work doing ‘things’. Now for those of you who aren’t students these ‘things’ include many tasks, normally its consists of half the day on Facebook and the other half doing university related work. Its not that I spend much time in Facebook, I’m a serial visitor. I’ve never been one of those people who spends his time submerged in peoples profiles looking a party pictures or holiday snaps. I enter Facebook primarily to scan the main news page, see who’s wrote on my wall (or wrote a private message) then leave in less than 5 minutes (granted I must do this a least 20 times a day) therefore I’m classed as a ’serial visitor’. Now I do find this quite sickening, I actually hate logging on to Facebook, therefore why can’t the content come to me? Very much in the same way you have your RSS feeds piped to you, why can’t I pipe Facebook activity ? Now I’m not just talking about RSS, as I understand it, the news activity has an RSS feed but that still needs to be viewed in an aggregator.
Basically, I need a application to deliver such content to the desktop, something that will pop up above the date (on Windows) and display the profile updates, pictures and event information etc. Something that isn’t overpowering and easy on the eye, but performs the role perfectly. Am I alone? Who wouldn’t find this useful? I just need something that will stop me going to facebook.com, its annoying but I can’t help it.
Although in the last week I’ve been rather unproductive, having such an application would only make things much worse…
I want to get the Facebook out of Facebook, is anyone with me?
