US singer Neil Diamond is to perform at the Glastonbury Festival, organiser Michael Eavis has confirmed.

The festival’s organiser, Michael Eavis, 72, has confirmed that Diamond, famed for songs such as Sweet Caroline, will headline the festival’s Sunday night.

Mr Eavis said: “Neil Diamond is for people closer to my age.” The singer, who has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide, is the latest “legend” to bring their back catalogue to a new generation of fans at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset.

I was hoping Neil would come closer to home (he’s my Achilles Heel), I love the guy, brilliant artist, lets hope I get to see him sometime.
